When olde worlde charm meets SA chic, the result is eclectic, chichi and very elegant.

The client envisioned a classical, stylish dinner for the corporate men and women flying in from across the world. As so many were international, Kathy Page-Wood, creative force at Farm Design Events, suggested a South African décor with a difference.

The Outlook at Cape Town’s Waterfront, with its breathtaking ocean, mountain and cityscape vistas, was the perfect venue for this intimate banquet for fifty people.

Traditional silverware and crystal chandeliers perfectly complemented African-themed surprises such as golden pineapples, leopard-print candle-holders and faux animal skulls.

Flower arrangements ranged from single proteas in classic white vases to luscious lilies, strelitzias and roses in rustic wooden bowls.

Several inviting lounge nooks were the ideal spot for guests to mingle together in comfort and style. Large cow hides set the African tone, with inventive wire baobab trees, created by local artisans and decorated with LED lights, twinkling on the tables.

We were delighted with the night,” says Kathy Page-Wood. “Everything came together for a magnificent evening that I’m very proud of.”
