A cultural experience in Langa township

Kathy Page Wood, the event designer and coordinator.

An informal cultural experience for the conference delegates was held in the oldest township in Cape Town, Langa. The event showcasing South African art, music and food, started with a curated walking tour through the township. Thereafter guests were treated to a delicious dinner made by a caterer from the community.

Famous and well-loved brands served as decor on the tables.
The room was filled with lively bright colours that has so much become a trademark of South Africa.

The evening included a presentation on the history of music from Langa, a panel discussion on past and present Langa, and marimba band.

Delicious South African ‘Braai’ food was prepared by a chef from Langa township.
