Farm Design Events is the event design and décor division of Farm Design, a multidisciplinary creative company.

Farm Design and Farm Design Events are the trading names of the company Gelderwood (Pty) Ltd, established in 2003.

Farm Design Events creates high-profile events of all kinds.

We have done intimate dinners for ten, welcome cocktail and gala dinners for hundreds, and beer festivals for thousands.

We have a strong focus on conferences and the associated social and networking events. We are able to bring to guests an authentic South African experience.

About Kathy Page Wood, our founding creative director

I’m more than just an event organiser. I’m a stylist, consultant on all things fashionable, show producer, interior decorator, photographer and marketer. My clients need people to remember them for a long time, so I make sure I add real value.

Kathy Page Wood served as the visionary force driving Farm Design Events, infusing each occasion with trendsetting innovation and resourceful flair.

Her Hip Hop start

With a background rooted in fashion design, Kathy embarked on her professional journey by founding the esteemed fashion label, Hip Hop, in 1985. Together with her partner, Cheryl Arthur, she cultivated Hip Hop into a prominent entity within South Africa’s fashion landscape, renowned for its exquisite women’s apparel. 

Under her stewardship, Hip Hop emerged as one of the country’s premier independent clothing design houses, boasting its own chain of retail outlets.

Hip Hop‘s distinct style graced numerous magazine covers and commanded attention at the forefront of South Africa’s fashion showcases, dressing a roster of notable celebrities along the way. 

Farm Design Events

In 2007, Kathy transitioned from the world of fashion to establish Farm Design Events, driven by a steadfast commitment to curating unparalleled experiences for her clients.

Drawing from her fashion design ethos, Kathy approaches event design with a mission to evoke a sense of magnificence and empowerment for every guest. 

People underestimate the power of good décor – it's a way to make guests feel special, that someone has taken care to make sure their experience is unforgettable.

Preferred supplier to CTICC

Her dedication to crafting distinctive and unforgettable experiences has garnered acclaim, leading Farm Design Events to be appointed as a preferred supplier at the esteemed Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

There, over the span of 12 years, Kathy spearheaded the design and decor of numerous large-scale corporate events and international conferences hosted at CTICC. Among her distinguished clientele were organizations such as the World Economic Forum, Boeing, and Airbus. They entrusted Kathy to orchestrate gatherings accommodating over 1,000 delegates. 

In addition to her meticulous attention to ambiance and aesthetics, Kathy played an integral role in managing event entertainment and collaborating with renowned chefs to curate exceptional culinary offerings.

Opting not to maintain stock, we remain agile and adaptable, tapping into a network of specialist suppliers to access the latest inventory offerings.

In staffing, we uphold stringent standards, employing only the most highly trained and impeccably presented professionals, prioritizing exceptional service delivery.

Our workflow starts with client briefings, followed by comprehensive graphic presentations showcasing our concepts and proposed solutions. This transparent approach ensures that our clients have a clear understanding of the envisioned event execution.

Budgeting is approached meticulously, we provide a clear itemised budget of every item we believe necessary for the best event.

For corporate clients, rest assured, we adhere to all regulatory requirements. From possessing requisite company registration documentation to holding a Tax Clearance Certificate and Department of Labour’s ‘Letter of Good Standing’, we ensure full compliance. We are also regisered on the National Supplier Database.  We have a commitment to operating at the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

Conference infrastructure and logistics

Farm Design Events was tasked to provide the infrastructure and logistics for a three-day conference for 350 delegates. We sourced a venue that had to accomodate two large conference plenary rooms, multiple meeting areas, lunch and dinner facilities for 350 and a satellite catering kitchen and bar.
