RMB Mining Indaba 2023

One of the premier events in the week of Mining Indaba in Cape Town, is the annual RMB Networking Cocktail at FNB Portside. Farm Design Events have been responsible for the design, furniture and decor, planning and styling of food, and the entertainment for the past couple of years. We are happy to report that this event and has gained popularity year-on year.

Guests arrive to this networking event after their programmes at the Indaba are done. We transform the 28th floor of Portside with lounges, bar area, wine bars, conversation tables, outside seating on the deck.

The event design was inspired by a new-look Africa – from decor to food and entertainment. We combined contemporary African-inspired furniture with old Persian carpets. Soft furnishings combined African wax prints with and shiny sequins and feathers.

The view of Table Mountain from the deck at FNB Portside. The mountain on this occasion was draped in clouds with only the edge of the cableway visible.Oversized typographic signs led the way to the bar and the main stage.

Food stations and an abundant harvest-table catered for every guest irrespective of dietary requirements. The resident chef at FNB Portside, Chef Cecile, served a range of dishes – from Oxtail stews to fresh summer salads and local cheeses.

The wine bar was doing brisk service with the very best South African wines, and a dedicated whisky bar catered for the spirit drinkers.

On arrival, the guests were entertained by two cartoonists who did their ‘potraits’  This proved to be a fun interactive ice breaker. People loved having their portraits drawn and it was just as much fun watching  these talented artists at work. Each artwork was embossed with an RMB logo and taken home as prized memento of the evening.

Two cartoonists created sketches of guest who were delighted to take it home.

Musical entertainment was provided by an African jazz band.

RMB Mining Indaba 2023 was another extra special night of meeting new players in the mining industry, and reconnecting with old partners, in a comfortable environment with fabulous entertainment and good food.
